YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF ALL AT ONCE

YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF ALL AT ONCE

/ 1

I thought I was an advocate for gay rights, then realized I’m gay... then I was an advocate for trans rights before realizing that I am very trans.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF ALL AT ONCE. Or ever. Coming out can be a long process in this world of compulsory heteronormativity and cisnormativity.
It’s okay if you didn’t always know.
Image description: illustration of Danny, the artist, with faer fist in the air, shouting “I AM AN ALLY! Gay rights!” (Note that calling oneself an ally is performative and we don’t do this). Fae are wearing a heart monitor under faer yellow tank top. In the second panel fae have opened faer hand and looked down to see a rainbow flag on faer palm. “Oh,” fae say. “I’m gay. “
The second slide is the same comic, but with the trans flag, where fae realize that fae are trans.
